All about dancing - what you need to know
When two people like each other, you can see it in their eyes. The way they speak to each other, the way they act one around the other one and the little things they usually do also point to the fact that there is something in the air. But there are other ways of showing affection other than through words. One of the most intimate actions two people who like each other but they don't know each other for a long time can do is dancing. By dancing, you can get very close to the other one and transmit your feelings easier, simply through your body language. But dancing doesn't necessarily have to be romantic. There are lots of dances which are part of different countries' folklore. There are dances which celebrate different events, such as the harvest or the rainy days, sometimes just the plain celebration of different holidays. There are also the society dances, which are much appreciated even these days.
It is hard to say when exactly dancing started, but it certainly existed a while in prehistory, so we can't really know a date. The oldest artifacts which attested the existence of dances are about 5300 years old Egyptian and Indian paintings, but we have reasons to believe that they are even 9000 years old or more. Dances were used for different rituals, or for showing love for others, but even for telling different stories, as writing was not yet invented. Even in early Greece, people started to dance in order to express different feelings, such as anger, love or others. In more recent periods, such as the 18th and the 19th centuries, court dances were very popular, which soon evolved to be more natural and certain costumes were used for it. Sometime after that period, in 19th century, people started to appreciate dancing more like a romantic art, where first the ballerina was the main character, and in the 20th century, the male dancers started to be more expressive too. After the early 20th century, when modern dancing started to develop and ballet wasn't very popular anymore, in the late 20th century, the ballet was again accepted along other types of dances, while whole new moves were and types of dancing were invented.
Today's variety of dances is nothing more than an amalgam of dancing styles gathered over the history. It is a highly appreciated art and it will always be.
